G'day Mate!

If you're my friend on facebook or follow me on twitter, you've heard the news: we get to go to Australia (and maybe New Zealand) this summer for two weeks for FREE!

I feel so incredibly lucky! At first, my husband told me they were sending him and, honestly, I was really jealous. I was happy for him and proud that he is so valued at his company, but I really wanted to be able to go with him. After some company policy research, he discovered that if they get him a business class ticket, we would be allowed to trade it for two coach seats so that his spouse (yeah, that's me) could go as well. He figured they were buying him coach and that we would have to try to scrounge up the money for my ticket, which would be challenging for us, to say the least. Today, during a really boring meeting, I glanced at my Crackberry and he had sent me an email saying "we are golden".

Oh yes we are...

I will be blogging about our plans as we make them and asking you, my few dear readers, for help! Have any of you been to Australia? Do you know anyone who has? Anything we simply must do? Tourist traps to avoid? Anything I learn I will share and of course, I promise to post a million pictures when I get home!

Congrats on the good news! I will say the flight is absolutely terrible, but worth it. Two weeks is a decent stay too. I would never go for just a week. Each time I've visited (my sister lives there) I've gone for three and that seems to be just perfect.

If you are going to Sydney definitely do the Harbour Bridge climb. I also really love walking through the Royal Botanical Gardens. A few things I've done there and loved include snorkeling in the Whitsunday Islands - Whitehaven Beach is my absolute favorite. I also went on a four wheel drive tour of Fraser Island which was amazing. Have a fantastic time!

Thanks Lauren! I might be too scared to do the bridge climb, but I love snorkeling, so thanks for that recommendation!
