Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend wasn't particularly exciting or eventful, but I thought I'd start a weekly weekend wrap-up and there's no time like the present.

Saturday didn't start off so well. My husband and I were going to go see Hangover 2, but his friend called and asked him to come over and help him put together a basketball hoop for his kids. He left and I sulked in bed for an hour or so until I decided to go to Home Depot to ask about how to fix our ugly tile in the kitchen. When I tried to start my car, I realized the battery was dead. My husband came home to jump my car, but then my radio wouldn't work. We went to Home Depot together, got some advice about re-grouting and sealing, bought some more tomato plant cages, and came home. Then, we tried to get my radio working.

I was determined to figure this out because I have recently become addicted to audio books and am in the middle of Lincoln Lawyer right now. I love it so much and can't wait to drive somewhere so I can listen to more. When I get to work or home from work, I sit in my car for as long as possible so I can keep listening. So, now you see why I just had to fix my radio. Since my car has a built-in navigation, any time the battery dies and the system is reset, I have to enter a code. I bought my car from CarMax and not a Honda dealership, so they had to look up the navigation code when I bought it and it took some digging. However, this wasn't the problem on Saturday. After I entered the navigation code, it asked for a code for the audio, which I have never had to enter. This code wasn't anywhere in my manuals and we tried parts of the vin number, which didn't work, so I called our local Honda dealership. They tried to help me over the phone, but we were both not understanding each other, so the service rep told me to go in.

They were amazing. It took a good hour and more than six guys to figure it out, but they did and they didn't charge me a penny. Thank you Honda.

After all that drama, my friend Michelle invited me to her mom's birthday dinner at Duke's in Malibu. I was supposed to babysit, but decided I really needed a night out with the girls after such a stressful day, so I canceled babysitting and joined the ladies.

I think I need an iphone solely for the instagram and postagram apps.

I got to drive a Bentley full of teenagers while the other ladies took a limo (I think I got the better deal) and we arrived just as the sun was setting, granted, it was very overcast and there wasn't much of a sunset to be seen. Dinner was delicious and we had a great time. I need to get out with the girls more often!

Sunday, my husband and I took both of our cars in to EZ Lube right down the street and then walked from there to Cables, a diner/coffee shop, for breakfast while our cars were being serviced. Then, we took the dogs to the dog park where Jackson peed on every single tree and trash can a minimum of 5 times each. Since someone was having a huge party at the park with a DJ and everything, we decided to hike up one of the trails behind it to get away from the crowd.

This gorgeous view was the reward for our workout. It would be a great place to watch fireworks for the 4th. We could bring some beach chairs and a cooler...

After our impromptu hike, we decided to go check out an island I want to get for our kitchen at Crate and Barrel.

Even though our kitchen cabinets are white, I think the black island would look good and wouldn't get as dirty as the white one with our dogs and future babies. It is more than I'd like to spend, but I have looked at so many islands over the last few months and it is the best one I can find that meets all our criteria. Every time we make a meal, I'm dying for more counter space and a real silverware drawer would be nice, too (ours is in a cabinet right now because there is no real silverware-appropriate drawer in our kitchen). We didn't buy the island today, but I'm going back soon to make the big purchase. I can't wait.

Sunday night my husband went to watch the basketball game with his friend and I went to The Counter in Studio City to meet up with a couple of friends I haven't seen in far too long, Angie and Lindsay.

I got a 1/3 lb beef burger with lettuce, cheddar, grilled onions, and guacamole. It was good, but really messy.

Overall, I had a really nice weekend and was so happy I made time to hang out with my friends. I'd like to make a commitment to see a friend at least once a week. I think I can do that and I think it will be really good for me.

How was your weekend? Do you get out to see your friends often or are you a bit antisocial like me?

I had a really good time on Saturday night too!! We should definitely do it more often. And I looooove the Counter, there is one in Westlake and I have been frequenting it a little too often.
