Happy Friday!

Do you have plans for the weekend? My husband is helping me move boxes into my new classroom on Saturday and on Sunday we're going back to MOCA for an event with Levi's. Besides that, I plan to try to squeeze a bit more relation in as I only have one more week off before I go back to work.

Here are some of my favorite things from around the wed this week:

An interesting article about talking to little girls.

I need to try this pizza recipe next time we whip out the pizza stone.

These would be pretty on our patio.

I'm loving these adorable diaper bag alternatives!

Twins terrify me, but I love this nursery inspiration board for boy/girl twins.

Have a fantastic weekend!

I saw that article about talking to little girls a bit ago and I have to say I get her point, but I disagree to an extent. Little girls (and big girls) need to be told they're beautiful. Girls need to FEEL beautiful. Girls love positive affirmation. We need to feel like we are loved for reasons far beyond our beauty, but physical beauty is one of the aspects of who we are. I do agree that discussing things beyond physical appearance, dolls, Barbies, etc. is needed, but I think that the author in this case takes it far too much to the extreme for my tastes.

What an interesting article on talking to girls. It's true, virtually the first thing you think to say is to compliment her looks in some way. I do agree that girls need to be brought up with a healthy self-esteem and should also be told they are beautiful, but I think it can put too much pressure on someone and perpetuate and unhealthy body image by being told by every single person they come across. It's a nice reminder that the next time I catch myself doing that, I can ask other questions besides giving a compliment on physical appearance. Besides, everyone else will probably still compliment her on her looks anyway, right? So we can be the difference. :)

The diaper bag was one of things I totally let Jake choose! Those are awesome alternatives though.
