12 weeks
I feel a lot bigger this week. I think I look bigger, too, but maybe that's just my perception? I think in the second picture above, you can even see my bump from the front! I didn't wear this outfit to work today because I think it shows off the bump too much and I haven't told my students that I'm pregnant yet. I'd like to wait a couple more weeks until after my next doctor appointment to tell them, but if one of them says something, I'll have to tell them. I know that most adults would never say anything to a woman if they're not sure she's pregnant, but I have some pretty immature ninth graders, so you never know what will come out of their mouths.
I did tell my principal last Friday and my department chair this Monday. It was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders and they are being so nice about it. I'm glad it's mostly out in the open now and I look forward to telling my students so I don't have to feel like I'm hiding it anymore.
It seems like the sickness has mostly subsided. Once in a while I'll get a wave of nausea, but it's rare these days. I did have a couple of sharp pains below my belly the other night that sort of freaked me out, but they went away pretty quickly, so I'm trying not to worry about it.
Two mornings in a row this week while teaching my first period class I got really dizzy and had to immediately sit down and chug water. I've read that this happens quite often during pregnancy, so it wasn't a huge surprise, but I am trying to incorporate more protein in my breakfast. I also brought a stool into work so I can sit while teaching from the podium. Luckily, my students are pretty well behaved, so it's not a big deal if I have to sit down while teaching once in a while.
I can't believe I'm at the end of the first trimester! I'll be 13 weeks on Monday and that is just crazy to me. I never really believed I'd make it this far, so it's quite surreal for me.
We have names picked out already. Too early? Maybe. Will we change our minds? I doubt it. We started discussing names sometime last year and had some picked out, but we've narrowed it down and are both happy with the ones we've selected. I'm not sure when I'll share, but I know I won't be able to keep it a secret throughout the entire pregnancy.
I've finished our registry - well, everything except bedding and a few other things that will depend on the sex. I've always wanted to keep most things gender neutral because I don't want to have to buy new things if we have a second baby that's a different sex. Next week I'll post about some of the items I've registered for and why. I might be a first time mom, but I've been researching baby stuff for over a year. Still, the other night when I was adding things, I asked one of my friends who is pregnant with her second child for advice and she gave me some really great tips. I'll share some of that next week, as well.
As for my outfit in the pictures above, the pants are from Old Navy, seen here. They're super comfortable and I can wear them to work, which is a plus. The sweater is old (from Gap Outlet, I think) as are the shoes (h&m?), but the camisole is my new favorite item of clothing. I love it so much I ordered one in black because Target only sells white and nude in stores (I tried to find it online, but something is wrong with the website. If you're interested, it's a seamless camisole by Be Maternity).
Overall, this week was pretty great! I'm catching up on my grading and finding a balance between working my hardest without completely stressing out. And I'm getting excited!!! Is this really happening?

I was just thinking that this was the first week's set of pictures where I might have guessed you were preggo! It's a very small bump but super cute! I recommended your blog to a friend at work who's exactly as far along as you! She's your age too. In fact, I bet you guys would be friends if you met. We're all English teachers, she and her hubby just bought a house, and she too is excited for all the planning to get ready for her baby! :) Maybe sometime we could all go for coffee!
