Styling the Office: Inspiration

I'm such a procrastinator! I really should be writing a one page paper about education for a job I'm applying for, but I'd rather blog. I'll get to it later, I promise (says the queen of procrastination).

The next room I'd like to tackle, since our living room is so beautiful and makes the rest of the house look like crap, is the office. It will become the office/guestroom after we get pregnant, so I need to include a bed in there somehow. Here is what it looked like right before Emily came over:

Things that are staying: The big black desk, bronze curtain rods, dark wood floors, and white trim. Everything else is outta there!

My vision is that we'll have a daybed, but one that fits a full sized mattress instead of a twin. I'm not sure if that's going to work, though. Here's my inspiration for the bedding:

I love the layered look and that quilt is to die for. I might try to make something like it, but that seems a little ambitious.

I want to use these curtains from Ikea:

They pull in the dark purple from the living room and will give guests more privacy than the sheer white ones we have now. Plus, they're super cheap at only $20 for two panels. We have two windows, so that's only $40 and way cheaper than buying fabric and making curtains.

I want to pull in these grey chairs that used to be in the living room:

But those pillows have got to go. I might use one chair with the desk and the other next to the bed. I originally wanted to position the desk so it came out of the wall and we could have a chair on either side, but I don't think that's going to work once we put the bed in there.

I want to use this rug from Ikea:

I'm going to use this color for three of the walls:

It is Benjamin Moore's Smoke Embers and it is in the same family as our aubergine in the living room.

I want to paint the big open wall (without a window or closet) with black chalkboard paint and hang up empty frames, kind of like this:

I'm not sure what color to paint the frames, but I have a ton of them in my strange collection (which Emily added to when she took down the ones we had in the living room - it has almost doubled in size!), so I won't have to buy any.

What do you think? Can I make this all work? What are your thoughts about putting a bed in a corner? Is that a huge no-no?
